Consider replacing the belt while the dryer is apart.

Dryer gas burner valve solenoid set. If the dryer does not heat or heats intermittently the coils could be defective. To test, watch the burner and if the igniter glows for a while and then shuts off without the gas igniting, it usually means one of these coils is bad.

Dryer thermistor. This thermistor should read approximately 11.9K Ohms of resistance at 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21’ Celsius). If the thermistor is defective, it may prolong or shorten the drying time or cause a fault code. A defective thermistor is not responsible for a dryer not heating.

The Whirlpool Burner Igniter Kit 279311 is a high-quality replacement part that ignites gas to light the dryer burner. It replaces multiple igniters and requires safety precautions and disconnection from utilities before installation.

Consider replacing the gas valve coils while you have the dryer apart.

Dryer idler pulley wheel kit. The idler pulley puts tension on the drive belt. If the idler pulley fails to put the proper amount of tension on the belt, the dryer will not spin

The dryer belt wears out over time. Consider replacing the belt while the dryer is apart.

Gas dryer sensor for igniter and flame. The sensor is located across from the gas igniter at the dryer’s burner assembly. This flame sensor should be closed for continuity at room temperature. Check for continuity with a multi-meter before replacing.
