Refrigerator

• Water Filter – Are you replacing your fridge’s water filter every six months? If not, you should, it helps maintain proper water flow and ensures good water quality.
  
• Condenser Coil – If your refrigerator is constantly running, it may be time to clean the condenser coil. The condenser coil collects dust and debris which prevents it from cooling efficiently. Your best bet is to use a special brush to clean the coils a couple of times a year. Clean the condenser fan motor while you’re at it.

• Gasket – A refrigerator gasket is the rubber seal between the door and the fridge itself that keeps the cold air in and the warm air out. Since the refrigerator door is opened and closed frequently, the gasket can wear out quickly. Replacing the gasket is simple and should only take about 30 minutes.

Microwave Oven

• Glass Tray – If your microwave’s glass tray has seen better days, it’s an easy and affordable fix.
• Filters – Did you know your microwave has a filter? Grease and carbon filters should be replaced on a regular basis to help with venting and eliminate odors. Plus, they’re not hard to access.
• Waveguide Cover – Seeing sparks? It may be time to replace your microwave oven’s waveguide cover. A damaged cover can result in electrical arcing within the oven itself. They cost $10 or less and can be quickly replaced.

Front-Load Washer

• Shock Absorber – Your car isn’t the only thing with a shock absorber. On a washing machine, they reduce the vibration of your washer’s tub. It the washer is vibrating or shaking, check the shock absorbers. If one or more look worn out, we recommend replacing them all.

• Drive Belt – For a washer that won’t spin or agitate, chances are a word drive belt it to blame.  The drive belt rotates the washing machine’s inner tub. To replace it, just remove the washer’s rear panel and replace the old belt with a new one in a minute or two.
• Lid Switch Assembly – Another reason a washer won’t spin is a faulty lid switch assembly. You can use a multimeter to test the switch for continuity. If there’s no continuity, then it’s a pretty straightforward repair to replace it.

Dryer

• Thermal Fuse – If your dryer isn’t working, the thermal fuse is most likely to be the culprit. If the venting or blower housing becomes clogged with lint, the thermal fuse will blow, cutting off power to the burner, heating element or the dryer itself. After replacing the fuse, be sure the clean the venting and blower wheel or you’ll just be replacing the thermal fuse again soon!

• Drive Belt – This one is easy to figure out and even easier to fix! If the dryer’s drum won’t turn, you’ll probably need a new drive belt. Good news – this is an easy and inexpensive repair.
• Rollers, Glides and Bearings – Worn rollers, glides and bearings can mean a noisy dryer. The problem depends on the model of your dryer: some use bearings and glides, others use rollers. However, if a single roller or glide is worn out, we recommend replacing all of them at the same time now. It’ll save you time and energy later.
